Chocolate and Hazelnut Donuts

Ingredients

  • 200 g of all-purpose flour
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 100 g of butter at room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 100 g of chopped hazelnuts
  • 100 g of dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by finely chopping the hazelnuts if you haven’t already prepared them, and chop the dark chocolate into small pieces or use chocolate chips.
  2. In a bowl, cream the soft butter with the sugar until you obtain a smooth mixture.
  3. Add the egg and continue to work the dough.
  4. Sift in the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt, then fold in the chopped hazelnuts and chocolate pieces.
  5. Work the dough until you achieve an even mixture.
  6. Take small portions of dough and form balls, then flatten them slightly with your hands to shape them into donuts. If you prefer, you can also use a donut cutter to give them a more regular shape.
  7. Place the donuts on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spacing them a little apart.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 15-20 minutes or until they are lightly golden.
  9. Once baked, let them cool on a wire rack.
  10. If you wish, dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.
