Chicken sticks with mustard sauce

Here is the recipe to prepare delicious Italian-style chicken sticks with mustard sauce.

Ingredients

  • 400g of chicken breast
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 100g of flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 150g of breadcrumbs
  • Olive oil or oil for frying

For the mustard sauce

  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of whole grain mustard
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 teaspoon of white wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Start by cutting the chicken breast into long, thin strips, similar to sticks. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. Prepare three deep plates: put the flour in the first one, beat the eggs with a pinch of salt in the second, and place the breadcrumbs in the third.

  3. Dip the chicken sticks first in flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs, making sure it adheres well to each piece.

  4. In a frying pan, heat a generous amount of olive oil or oil for frying. Fry the chicken sticks until they are golden brown and crispy.

  5. Drain the sticks on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  6. Meanwhile, prepare the mustard sauce. In a bowl, mix the mayonnaise with the two types of mustard, honey, and white wine vinegar. Adjust with salt and pepper, then stir until you obtain a homogeneous sauce.

  7. Serve the hot chicken sticks with the mustard sauce on the side for dipping.

Curiosity

Mustard is a sauce that pairs well with chicken meat, as its pungent taste enhances the delicateness of the chicken without overpowering it. The version with honey and vinegar creates a perfect balance between sweet, sour, and spicy, making this sauce ideal for accompanying finger foods and main dishes.
