Chicken Roll Stuffed with Ham and Cheese
17/11/2023Here is the recipe for a classic chicken roll stuffed with ham and cheese, a tasty dish that can be served either as a second course or as a main dish.
Ingredients
- 4 thin chicken breasts
- 4 slices of cooked ham
- 100 g of sliced cheese (such as Fontina, Provolone, or Mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Aromatic herbs to taste (rosemary, sage, thyme)
- Kitchen twine or toothpicks
Preparation
- Take the chicken breasts and slightly flatten them with a meat mallet, being careful not to break them. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- On each chicken breast, lay out a slice of cooked ham, then add the cheese, thinly sliced.
- Roll up the chicken breasts with the filling inside, making sure to securely close the edges. If necessary, use kitchen twine or toothpicks to hold the roll together.
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F).
- Meanwhile, in a large pan, heat a drizzle of oil and brown the chicken rolls on all sides, just enough to seal the juices inside.
- Place the chicken rolls in a baking dish, add aromatic herbs to your liking above and around the rolls to further flavor them.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese inside is completely melted.
- Once cooked, remove the twine or toothpicks and slice the rolls before serving.
You can pair this dish with a variety of sides, such as grilled vegetables, fresh salad, or mashed potatoes.
