Soy Sauce Chicken with Steamed Vegetables

Preparing chicken in soy sauce with steamed vegetables is a great way to have a healthy and tasty meal. Here is the recipe for you:

Ingredients

  • 400 grams of chicken breast
  • 200 grams of mixed vegetables (for example, broccoli, carrots, zucchini)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of sesame oil (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon of honey or brown sugar
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 piece of fresh ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds (optional for garnishing)

Preparation

  1. Start by cutting the chicken breast into evenly sized chunks and set them aside.

  2. Prepare a marinade by mixing in a bowl the soy sauce, sesame oil, honey or brown sugar, finely chopped garlic, and grated ginger. If you prefer a milder flavor, you can reduce the amount of soy sauce.

  3. Add the chicken chunks to the bowl with the marinade and let them flavor for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

  4. In the meantime, clean and cut the vegetables into not too small pieces. Prepare a pot for steaming or use a bamboo basket, and steam the vegetables until they are tender but still crispy, for about 5-7 minutes.

  5. Heat a frying pan or wok, add a drizzle of vegetable oil and sauté the chicken pieces over medium-high heat until they are cooked and slightly caramelized on the outside, which should take about 7-8 minutes.

  6. At this point, also add the remaining marinade to the pan and let the chicken further absorb the flavor and the sauce reduce slightly, forming a glaze.

  7. Serve the hot soy sauce chicken accompanied by the steamed vegetables. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired, and if you want to add a fresh touch, some chopped fresh coriander.
