Chicken Burger

Here is a simple recipe for homemade chicken burgers, with an Italian twist to make them even more delicious.

Ingredients

  • 500g of ground chicken breast
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
  • 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove of finely chopped garlic (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • A pinch of Italian aromatic herbs, such as oregano or basil
  • Extra virgin olive oil for cooking

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground chicken breast, egg, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic (if using), salt, pepper, and aromatic herbs.
  2. Mix all the ingredients with your hands until the mixture is uniform.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions, generally 4 or 5, depending on the desired size.
  4. Shape into flat patties trying to maintain an even thickness, as this will help with even cooking.
  5. Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium-high heat.
  6. When the oil is hot, cook the chicken burgers for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are well browned and cooked through in the center.
  7. Drain them on paper towels to remove excess fat before serving.

You can serve the chicken burgers on buns with salad, tomatoes, slices of mozzarella for an all-Italian twist, and dress with a little mayonnaise, ketchup, or basil sauce.

Fun Fact

The chicken burger is a lighter variant compared to the beef burger, and it has become popular in many kitchens, not just fast-food ones. Customizing chicken burgers with Italian ingredients like Parmesan and aromatic herbs helps to create a quick and tasty meal with a link to Italian culinary tradition.
