Ingredients
For the grain and red rice burgers:
- 1 cup of red rice, already cooked
- 1 cup of mixed grains (for example, spelt, barley, quinoa), already cooked
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 carrot, grated
- 1 zucchini, grated
- 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
- 1 egg (or a vegan substitute such as chickpea flour “frittata”)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for cooking
For the avocado hummus:
- 1 ripe avocado, mashed
- 1 can of cooked chickpeas (about 400 g), drained and rinsed
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- The juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons of tahini (sesame paste)
- Salt, to taste
- Chili powder (optional), to taste

Start with the preparation of the grain and red rice burgers:
- In a large bowl, mix the red rice, mixed grains, chopped onion, garlic, grated carrot, and zucchini.
- Add the breadcrumbs and the egg (or the vegan substitute). Mix well until you have a homogeneous mixture. If the mixture is too moist, you can add more breadcrumbs.
- Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
