Carrot Chips
17/11/2023Carrot chips are a healthy and tasty snack, great for those looking for an alternative to classic fried potato chips. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- Carrots, as many as you want
- Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil
- Salt
- Spices to taste (for example, rosemary, thyme, paprika)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Wash and peel the carrots. Using a vegetable peeler or a mandolin, slice the carrots into thin strips.
- Place the carrot slices in a bowl and add a little oil. Mix well so that the slices are evenly coated with oil.
- Arrange the carrot slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure they do not overlap.
- Sprinkle with salt and chosen spices.
- Bake and cook for about 10-20 minutes or until the edges of the carrots begin to curl up and become crispy. The cooking time can vary depending on the thickness of the slices, so I recommend you to monitor the chips closely to prevent them from burning.
- Remove the chips from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes; they will become even crispier as they cool down.
Tips:
- For an Italian version of carrot chips, you could add a pinch of dried oregano or some chopped sage for an extra hint of flavor.
- Make sure the carrot slices are of the same thickness for even cooking.
- Carrot chips are great to nibble on their own or as sides for main dishes.
- You can vary the spices each time to create different snacks.
Be sure to let the chips cool completely before serving to ensure maximum crispiness. Enjoy your meal!
