Whimsical Tuna Fusilli
17/11/2023Whimsical Tuna Fusilli is a simple and tasty dish that can be prepared in just a few minutes. Here is how to do it.
Ingredients
- 320g of fusilli
- 200g of canned tuna, well drained
- 10 cherry tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons of salted capers
- 100g of pitted black olives
- 1 clove of garlic
- 4 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Crushed red chili pepper (optional)
- Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Preparation
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil to cook the fusilli.
- Meanwhile, cut the cherry tomatoes in half or in quarters, depending on your preference.
- Rinse the capers under running water to remove the excess salt.
- In a large pan, heat the extra virgin olive oil with the peeled garlic clove (which you will remove as soon as it’s golden). Add the cherry tomatoes and cook for a few minutes over medium heat.
- Add the capers, olives, and chili pepper (if you like a bit of spice). Let it flavor for a couple of minutes.
- Add the drained tuna and cook for a few more minutes, just enough time to blend the flavors.
- By now, the fusilli should be cooked al dente. Drain the pasta and reserve some cooking water.
- Transfer the fusilli into the pan with the tuna and tomato sauce, if necessary add a little of the reserved cooking water to better cream the sauce.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the chopped fresh parsley.
- Serve the fusilli hot.
Trivia
This dish can be enriched with some fresh basil leaves or, for a citrus note, with the grated zest of a lemon.
