Milk Chocolate Cake

I can provide you with a simple recipe for a milk chocolate cake.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of milk chocolate
  • 150 g of soft butter
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g of flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • (Optional) vanilla extract or grated zest of one orange for flavoring

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Melt the milk chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it. Let it cool down slightly.
  3. In a bowl, cream the soft butter with the sugar until you obtain a smooth and fluffy mixture.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, continuing to mix.
  5. Incorporate the melted chocolate into the butter, sugar, and egg mix.
  6. Add a pinch of salt and, if desired, vanilla extract or orange zest.
  7. Sift the flour with the baking powder and gradually fold it into the mix, mixing gently to prevent lumps.
  8. Pour the mixture into a buttered and floured cake tin, or one lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, but check for doneness by inserting a skewer into the center of the cake: if it comes out clean, the cake is ready.
  10. Let the cake cool before unmolding. You can dust it with powdered sugar or decorate it with whipped cream dollops for a more decadent effect.

Curiosities

Chocolate cake is a globally loved classic. Milk chocolate contains powdered or condensed milk, sugar, and cocoa butter, which gives it a sweeter and less intense taste than dark chocolate. It’s a very versatile ingredient in pastry and is often used for sweets suitable for the whole family.

If you want an even more Italian touch, you might serve this cake with a mascarpone cream or a scoop of artisanal ice cream.
