Buttercream

Buttercream, also known as buttercream, is a preparation widely used in pastry, especially for decorating cakes and cupcakes. Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 250 g of soft butter
  • 500 g of powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons of milk or fresh cream
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)

Preparation

  1. Make sure the butter is at room temperature to make it fluffier. Cut it into cubes to facilitate the process.

  2. Put the butter in a large bowl and work it with electric mixers until it becomes soft and fluffy.

  3. Gradually add the powdered sugar, continuing to beat to incorporate it well. If the cream turns out to be too thick, add a tablespoon of milk at a time to reach the desired consistency.

  4. If desired, you can add vanilla extract or other flavors (such as orange or lemon zest) to enhance the flavor of your buttercream.

  5. Continue to work the cream with the mixers until it becomes smooth and homogeneous.

  6. Once ready, the buttercream can be used immediately to decorate or fill your sweets, or you can store it in the refrigerator for a few days. Remember to soften it at room temperature and beat it again before use if you have refrigerated it.

Buttercream is a very versatile base and can be colored with food coloring to create vivid decorations. Moreover, it can be enriched with melted chocolate, chopped nuts, or even liqueurs for more elaborate variants.
