Butter Cookies with Jam

Butter cookies with a jam heart are delicious treats that are easy to prepare. Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of flour
  • 175 grams of butter at room temperature
  • 100 grams of powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Fruit jam of your choice (apricot, strawberry, blueberries, etc.)
  • Powdered sugar for decorating (optional)

Preparazione

  1. In a large bowl, cream the soft butter with the powdered sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and a pinch of salt and continue mixing until they are fully incorporated.
  3. Finally, gradually incorporate the flour, working the dough until it becomes smooth and homogeneous.
  4. Wrap the dough in cling film and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
  6. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about 5 mm.
  7. Use a round cookie cutter to cut out the cookies and place them on the tray, leaving some space between them. In the center of half of the cookies, make a hole with a smaller cookie cutter or with the tip of a piping bag nozzle to create an opening where you will put the jam.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.
  9. Allow the cookies to cool for a few minutes on the tray, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Once cool, spread a teaspoon of jam on top and cover with the cookies with the hole, pressing lightly to adhere.
  11. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving.
