Hamburger with Vegetables and Fries

I can guide you in preparing a succulent hamburger accompanied by mixed vegetables and fries. To add an Italian touch to the recipe, we could add some fresh basil to the aromatic herbs and perhaps serve the hamburger with rosemary fries. Here’s how to proceed:

Ingredients

  • 500g of ground beef
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 1 sprig of thyme
  • 1 handful of fresh basil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 medium red onion
  • Extra virgin olive oil as needed
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • Mixed vegetables (peppers, zucchini, eggplants) as needed
  • Potatoes as needed

Preparation

  1. Start with the meat: in a large bowl, combine the ground beef with the finely chopped rosemary, thyme, and basil. Also add the crushed garlic, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix well and form 4 hamburgers.
  2. Heat a pan or grill plate to cook the hamburgers. If available, use also aromatic wood to add more flavor. Cook the hamburgers for about 3-4 minutes per side or until desired doneness.
  3. In the meantime, cut the mixed vegetables into strips or pieces and sauté them in a pan with a drizzle of oil, salt, and a pinch of pepper. Cook them while maintaining a certain crunchiness.
  4. For the fries, wash the potatoes and cut them into regular sticks. In a large pan, heat plenty of olive oil and when it is hot, fry the fries until golden. At the end of cooking, drain them and place them on paper towels, then sprinkle with salt and finely chopped rosemary needles.
  5. Meanwhile, lightly toast the cut hamburger buns on a grill or pan.
  6. Assemble your hamburger by placing the meat on the base of the buns, adding the mixed vegetables, and, if liked, thin slices of cheese or sauce to taste.
  7. Close with the top part of the bun and serve the hot hamburger with the rosemary fries and the still warm vegetables.

Curiosity

The idea of the hamburger sandwich, originating from the United States, has crossed borders and cultures, undergoing transformations and adaptations around the world. The addition of herbs such as basil, rosemary, and thyme merges Italian culinary tradition with the classic American sandwich, giving life to a variant full of flavor and character.
