Breaded Chicken Skewers

I can provide you with a recipe for breaded chicken skewers. They are a simple and delicious dish that can be served as an appetizer or a main course. Here are the ingredients and procedure for preparing them.

Ingredients

  • 500g of chicken breast
  • 2 eggs
  • 100g of breadcrumbs
  • 50g of grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Aromatic herbs as desired (for example, parsley, thyme, rosemary)
  • Extra virgin olive oil or frying oil
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Preparation

  1. Cut the chicken breast into cubes of about 2-3 cm.
  2. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. In another bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with the grated Parmesan cheese and the finely chopped aromatic herbs.
  4. Thread the chicken cubes onto the skewers, leaving a bit of space between each piece.
  5. Dip the chicken skewers in the beaten egg, making sure to coat them evenly.
  6. Roll the skewered chicken in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture, ensuring the breading adheres well to the chicken.
  7. Heat plenty of oil in a pan and, when it is hot, fry the skewers until they are golden and crispy on all sides. If you prefer, you can also bake them in the oven at 200 °C for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden, turning them halfway through.
  8. Drain the skewers on paper towels to remove excess oil and serve them hot.

Trivia

Breaded chicken skewers are a crunchier and more flavourful variant of simple grilled or baked chicken meat. The breading with Parmesan and aromatic herbs releases a delicious fragrance during cooking and adds a savory and rustic note to the dish. They can also be served with a yogurt or mayonnaise-based sauce for an extra touch of flavor.
