Scendiletto Cake

The “Scendiletto Cake” is not part of the traditional Italian or international recipes recognized up to my knowledge date, April 2023. It could be a dialect name, a homemade variation of a better-known recipe, or a dessert that is not widely spread. If you have a specific dessert in mind and can provide me with a description or the main ingredients, I can try to help you reconstruct the recipe or suggest something similar.

In case the intention was simply a sweet treat to accompany the awakening, here is a simple recipe for a dessert that you can enjoy for breakfast or as a snack, which we could symbolically call “Buongiorno Cake”:

Ingredients

  • 200 g of all-purpose flour
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 100 g of melted butter
  • 1 sachet of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 120 ml of milk

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until you achieve a light and fluffy mixture.
  2. Add the now tepid melted butter, milk and continue to mix.
  3. Mix in the sifted flour with the baking powder and the pinch of salt, then the lemon zest for flavoring.
  4. Blend all the ingredients until you get a smooth mixture.
  5. Pour the batter into a previously buttered and floured cake mold.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30-40 minutes, until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let it cool before unmolding and serving.

Curiosity

In Italy, every region has its own traditions when it comes to breakfast sweets. This simple and quick cake fits perfectly with the tradition of enjoying something sweet in the morning, perhaps accompanied by a good coffee or cappuccino.

If by “Scendiletto Cake” you are referring rather to a specific dessert and not to a symbolic creation, provide me with some more details and I will be pleased to assist you!
