Glazed Ribs with BBQ Sauce

There are many variants for glazed ribs with BBQ sauce, but I can provide you with a basic recipe that you can customize to your liking. Here are the ingredients and the preparation process:

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of pork ribs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 200 ml of ready-made BBQ sauce
  • 100 ml of ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika
  • Olive oil as needed

Preparation

  1. Prepare the ribs by trimming any excess fat and rubbing salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a large pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil and lightly sauté the chopped onion and garlic until they become translucent.
  3. Add the BBQ sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika to the pan. Mix well all the ingredients and let the sauce flavor for a few minutes over medium heat.
  4. Preheat the oven to 150°C.
  5. Place the ribs in a roasting tray, and pour over the sauce, making sure each side is well covered.
  6. Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and bake for about 2-3 hours, until they become tender.
  7. Remove the aluminum foil, increase the temperature to 200°C and let glaze for another 10-15 minutes, turning the ribs once to ensure even cooking.

Depending on the BBQ sauce used, you will get a marinade that is sweeter, spicier, or more smoky. You can also add your personal touch with spices or aromatic herbs of your choice.

Did you know?

The BBQ sauce has very ancient origins and it is thought to have been used by Native Americans before the arrival of Europeans. The modern version has especially developed in the southern United States, where each state has its own variant, sometimes jealously guarded!
