Baked Tagliatelle

Baked tagliatelle is a substantial and rich dish, ideal for a family Sunday or a special dinner. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 250 g of egg tagliatelle
  • 200 g of Bolognese ragù
  • 100 g of diced cooked ham
  • 200 ml of béchamel sauce
  • 100 g of peas (optional)
  • 150 g of grated cheese (Parmesan or similar)
  • Salt to taste
  • Butter for the baking dish

Preparation

  1. Bring plenty of salted water to a boil in a pot and cook the tagliatelle until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process.
  2. Prepare the Bolognese ragù following the classic recipe, or use a ready-made good quality ragù.
  3. In a pan, you can sauté the cooked ham along with the peas (if you decide to use them) for a few minutes.
  4. Prepare the béchamel sauce (or use a ready-made one) and set aside.
  5. Butter a baking dish and distribute a first layer of tagliatelle on the bottom.
  6. Add a layer of ragù and one of cooked ham and peas, then pour some of the béchamel on top.
  7. Sprinkle with some grated cheese and repeat the layers until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of béchamel and a generous sprinkling of cheese.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 20-25 minutes or until the surface is golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove from the oven and let rest a few minutes before serving.

Curiosity

Baked tagliatelle can be considered a sort of lasagna, but made with a thinner puff pastry and therefore without the need to create many layers. It is a dish that allows you to use leftover ragù or béchamel sauce that you may have in the fridge, turning them into a new and delicious meal. In addition, the addition of diced cooked ham gives a pleasant touch of savoriness.
