Baked Swordfish with Potatoes

Baked swordfish with potatoes is a delicious and simple to prepare Mediterranean main course. I will provide you with a recipe with an Italian twist.

Ingredients

  • 4 swordfish steaks (about 200 g each)
  • 800 g of potatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • A few tablespoons of breadcrumbs
  • Fresh parsley to taste
  • Dried oregano to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • Lemon juice
  • Grated zest of 1 untreated lemon
  • Pitted black olives (optional)

Preparation

  1. Prepare the swordfish: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Meanwhile, wash the swordfish steaks and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a bowl, season with lemon juice, a drizzle of oil, salt, pepper, and leave to marinate for about 15 minutes.

  2. Prepare the potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices about 5 mm thick. Blanche them in boiling salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain and let them cool.

  3. Season the potatoes: In a bowl, mix the potatoes with a drizzle of oil, salt, pepper, chopped parsley, oregano, and chopped or powdered garlic (according to your preference).

  4. Assemble the dish: Grease a baking dish with a drizzle of oil and spread a first layer of potatoes. Place the swordfish steaks on top and sprinkle the surface of the steaks with breadcrumbs, grated lemon zest, and, if you like, add some chopped black olives.

  5. Cooking: Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the potatoes are golden and the swordfish is cooked to perfection.

Curiosity: Swordfish is a fish with a strong and meaty flavor, known in kitchens throughout the Mediterranean. It is rich in proteins and omega-3 fatty acids, contributing to a healthy and balanced diet. Its pairing with potatoes is classic but always appreciated for their simplicity and versatility in complementing dishes based on meat or fish.

Enjoy your meal and good cooking!
