Baked Sea Bream

Baked sea bream is a highly appreciated Mediterranean dish for its delicate flavor and its easily digestible cooking. Here is the recipe for a baked sea bream with an Italian twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 sea bream of about 600-800 grams (gutted and cleaned)
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Potatoes (optional, for a side dish)

Preparation

  1. Rinse the sea bream well under running water and pat it dry with kitchen paper.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  3. Line a baking tray with a sheet of baking paper and pour a drizzle of oil.
  4. Cut the lemon into slices and the garlic cloves in half.
  5. Stuff the inside of the sea bream with the slices of lemon, sprigs of rosemary, and halves of garlic.
  6. Salt and pepper both the inside and the outside of the fish and place it in the tray.
  7. Sprinkle the sea bream with the remaining extra virgin olive oil.
  8. If desired, you can add potatoes, previously sliced and lightly seasoned with oil, salt, and rosemary, around the sea bream.
  9. Bake the sea bream and let it cook for about 20-30 minutes or until the flesh is soft and succulent.
  10. Remove the sea bream from the oven and serve immediately.
