Raw Ham Meatloaf

The raw ham meatloaf is a rich and tasty dish, perfect to serve as a main course accompanied by a side of vegetables. Let’s see how to prepare it.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of ground beef
  • 150 g of thinly sliced raw ham
  • 100 g of stale bread
  • 100 ml of milk
  • 50 g of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small onion
  • Parsley to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Butter to taste for greasing the baking dish

Preparation

  1. Start by soaking the stale bread in milk until it softens. Squeeze it to remove the excess milk.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, soaked bread, grated Parmesan cheese, eggs, finely chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix the ingredients well until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Finely chop the onion and fry it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil until it becomes transparent. Let it cool and then add it to the meatloaf mixture.
  4. Spread the meat mixture on a sheet of baking paper, forming a rectangle about 1.5 cm thick.
  5. Distribute the slices of raw ham over the meat mixture, leaving a margin at the edges.
  6. Roll up the meatloaf using the baking paper and seal the ends well to prevent the filling from spilling out during cooking.
  7. Transfer the meatloaf into a baking dish previously greased with a little butter.
  8. Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40-50 minutes, until it is well browned on the outside.
  9. Serve the raw ham meatloaf in slices, accompanied by a side dish of your choice.
