Baked Feta

Baked feta is a simple but delicious dish that can be a great appetizer or a side dish. Here’s how you can prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 200g of feta, preferably whole in one piece
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Fresh or dried oregano
  • Chili pepper (optional)
  • Cherry tomatoes (as many as you like)
  • Black olives (optional)
  • Black pepper (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Place the piece of feta in a small baking dish suitable for its size, or wrap it in a sheet of baking paper.
  3. Drizzle the feta with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with oregano.
  4. If you wish, add a pinch of chili pepper to give it a spicy touch.
  5. Place the cherry tomatoes around the feta and, if you like, some black olives.
  6. Bake and cook for about 20 minutes, or until the feta becomes golden brown and starts to melt slightly.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper, if desired.

Serve the baked feta warm, accompanied by crunchy bread or croutons. It’s also perfect to enjoy with grilled vegetables or a fresh Greek salad.
