Baked Cabbage

Here’s a simple recipe to prepare baked cabbage, with an Italian twist to enhance the flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium green cabbage
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Red chili flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1/3 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Remove the outer leaves of the cabbage and cut off the bottom part of the core. Slice the cabbage into wedges about 2 cm thick.
  3. In a large baking dish, mix the cabbage wedges with extra virgin olive oil, finely chopped garlic cloves, salt, and black pepper to taste. If you like a hint of spiciness, you can also add some chopped red chili.
  4. Arrange the cabbage wedges in a single layer on the baking dish, trying not to overlap them.
  5. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese over the seasoned cabbage.
  6. Bake the cabbage for about 20-25 minutes or until golden and crispy on the edges.
  7. Once baked, remove the cabbage from the oven and serve hot as a side dish.
