Baked Apple Fritters

Ingredients
- 2 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 150 g of flour
- 50 g of sugar (plus a bit more for sprinkling)
- 150 ml of milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)
- Powdered sugar for decorating (optional)
- Butter, as needed for greasing
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C and grease a baking sheet with some butter.
- In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the milk; mix well.
- Combine the liquid ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until they are well blended into a homogeneous batter.
- Dip the apple slices into the batter, making sure they are completely covered.
- Arrange the batter-coated apple slices on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each one.
- Sprinkle the apples with a bit of extra sugar to give a crispy texture.
- Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes or until the fritters are golden and crispy.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.
