Aromatic mini burgers with cheese

I can share with you the recipe for aromatic cheese miniburgers, and I’ll give an Italian touch with some ideas to make them even more flavorful. Here are the ingredients for about 8 miniburgers:

Ingredients

  • 500 g of ground beef (or you can use ground chicken or turkey for a lighter version)
  • 80 g of cheddar cheese (or sweet provolone for an Italian touch)
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped aromatic herbs (basil, rosemary, thyme, maybe an Italian mix)
  • 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons of breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Mini burger buns

To serve:

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Choice of sauce (ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard, etc.)

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, put the ground meat and add the grated cheddar cheese, aromatic herbs, garlic, onion, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper.
  2. Mix all the ingredients until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into 8 equal parts and form miniburgers to your preferred size, based on the size of the buns.
  4. Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan and cook the miniburgers over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked to your liking.
  5. In the meantime, cut the mini buns in half and toast them lightly.
  6. Prepare the ingredients to serve: wash and slice the lettuce and tomato.
  7. Assemble the miniburgers by putting some sauce on the bottom of the bun, then the lettuce, the cooked miniburger, a slice of tomato, and then add more sauces if you wish.
  8. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.

Curiosity

Miniburgers are perfect for parties and aperitifs, as their format makes them ideal to be enjoyed in a couple of bites. If you want to make everything even more Italian, you could use buffalo mozzarella instead of cheddar and add a pinch of oregano among the aromatic herbs.
