Apple Tart

The apple tart is a classic dessert that brings great satisfaction. Here is a recipe you can follow:

Ingredients

  • 300 g of all-purpose flour
  • 150 g of cold butter, diced
  • 120 g of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 yolk
  • Grated lemon zest
  • 1 pinch of salt

For the filling:

  • 3-4 apples, depending on the size
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon (optional)
  • Apricot jam or other flavor of your choice to spread over the tart base

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour with the sugar, grated lemon zest, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add the cold, diced butter and quickly work the mixture with your fingertips until it resembles coarse sand.
  3. Add the egg and yolk, then quickly form a ball without overworking the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them thinly. Place them in a bowl with the lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon, and let them marinate.
  5. Roll out the dough into a sheet about 5 mm thick and line a tart tin previously buttered and floured with it.
  6. Prick the base with a fork, spread a layer of your chosen jam over it, then arrange the marinated apple slices on top.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40-45 minutes or until golden.
  8. Let cool before serving.
