Apple Delight Donut

Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized apples;
  • 300 g of type 00 flour;
  • 200 g of granulated sugar;
  • 100 g of melted butter or vegetable oil;
  • 3 eggs;
  • 1 sachet of baking powder for sweets;
  • 1 pinch of salt;
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon;
  • 1 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon (optional);
  • Powdered sugar for decorating (optional).

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and butter and flour a donut mold.

  2. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut them into small cubes.

  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the granulated sugar until frothy and light.

  4. Add the melted butter or oil and continue stirring.

  5. Incorporate the sifted flour and the pinch of salt, mixing gently to avoid lumps.

  6. Add the grated lemon zest, baking powder, and, if you like, the powdered cinnamon, blending everything together.

  7. Add the apple cubes to the batter and gently mix to distribute them evenly.

  8. Pour the batter into the prepared mold and level it with a spatula.

  9. Bake the donut for about 40-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.

  10. Let the donut cool in the mold for about ten minutes, then unmold it onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.

  11. Before serving, you can decorate the donut with powdered sugar.
