Apple and Ricotta Fritters

Apple and ricotta fritters are a delicious and simple dessert to make. Here is how you can do it.

Ingredients

  • 2 large apples
  • 250 g of ricotta
  • 150 g of flour
  • 50 g of sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 sachet of vanillin or a teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Icing sugar for decoration
  • Oil for frying

Preparation

  1. Start by peeling the apples, removing the core and cutting them into small cubes. Put the cubes in a bowl.
  2. In a larger bowl, mix the ricotta with the eggs, sugar, and vanillin (or vanilla extract). Add a pinch of salt.
  3. Gradually incorporate the flour into the ricotta mixture, mixing well to avoid lumps.
  4. Add the apple cubes to the batter and gently stir to distribute them evenly.
  5. Heat plenty of oil in a pan and, once hot, use a spoon to scoop portions of the mixture and pour them into the oil.
  6. Fry the fritters until they turn golden on both sides. It is important not to overcrowd them in the pan to allow for even cooking.
  7. Once cooked, remove the fritters with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  8. Serve them warm or at room temperature, sprinkling with icing sugar to taste.

Curiosity

Apple fritters are a typical preparation of Italian home cooking, often made for festive occasions or during Carnival. Varying the type of apples used can slightly change the final taste of the dessert: if you prefer a more tart taste, use Granny Smith apples, otherwise choose sweeter apples like Golden Delicious.
