Apple and Cinnamon Puff Pastry Swirls

Apple and cinnamon puff pastry swirls are a delicious dessert that combines the sweetness of apples with the spicy fragrance of cinnamon, all wrapped in crispy puff pastry. Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 1 rectangular puff pastry sheet
  • 2 apples (preferably Fuji or Golden)
  • Brown sugar to taste
  • Ground cinnamon to taste
  • Lemon juice
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel the apples and cut them into thin slices, then place them in a bowl. Drizzle the apples with lemon juice to prevent them from browning and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon to taste, mixing well.
  3. Unroll the puff pastry sheet and evenly distribute the apple mixture on the surface, leaving a free margin at the sides.
  4. Roll the puff pastry on itself, starting from the long side, until a tight roll is formed.
  5. Cut the roll into slices about 2 cm thick and place them on the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave some space between each one.
  6. Brush the surface of the swirls with the beaten egg yolk.
  7. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the swirls are golden and crispy.
  8. Allow the puff pastry swirls to cool on a wire rack before serving. If you wish, you can dust the swirls with powdered sugar before serving.
