Ingredients
- 250 g of all-purpose flour
- 125 g of cold butter
- 100 g of sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 pinch of salt
- Grated zest of 1 lemon
- 4-5 apples (such as Golden Delicious or Renette)
- 200 g of mixed berry jam
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
- Cinnamon powder (optional)
- Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)
Preparation
- Start by preparing the shortcrust pastry: sift the flour into a bowl and add the cold butter, cut into cubes. Work with your fingertips until you have a sandy mixture.
- Add the sugar, a pinch of salt, and the grated lemon zest.
- Incorporate the egg and quickly knead until you form a homogeneous ball. Wrap the dough ball in cling film and let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the cores, and slice them thinly. Place them in a bowl with lemon juice, brown sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon (if desired).
- Prepare a pie dish about 24 cm in diameter by lining it with parchment paper and lightly greasing it.
- Roll out about two-thirds of the shortcrust pastry and line the pie dish, creating a high edge.
- Spread an even layer of mixed berry jam on the bottom of the pastry.
- Arrange the apple slices over the jam, forming an even layer or composing a spiral pattern for a more decorative effect.
- Roll out the remaining pastry and cut out strips or shapes to your liking to create a lattice or decorations over the apples.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 35-40 minutes or until the pastry is golden and the apples are soft.
- Allow the tart to cool completely before dusting it with powdered sugar, if desired.
