Watermelon Alcoholic Popsicles

Watermelon alcoholic popsicles are a perfect choice to cool off during the hot summer with an adult twist to the classic popsicle. Here’s how to make them:

Ingredients

  • 500 g of seedless watermelon pulp
  • 80-100 ml of vodka or white rum
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar (optional, depending on the sweetness of the watermelon)
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • A few leaves of fresh mint (optional)

Preparation

  1. Begin by blending the watermelon pulp until liquid.
  2. Add the vodka or white rum, lime juice, and brown sugar to the watermelon puree. If you have chosen to use mint, blend the leaves together with the other ingredients for a more intense flavor.
  3. Taste the mix to ensure it is to your liking in terms of sweetness and alcoholic strength. At this point, you can adjust by adding more sugar or alcohol if necessary.
  4. Pour the mixture into popsicle molds, leaving a little space at the top for expansion during freezing.
  5. Insert the popsicle sticks and place the molds in the freezer.
  6. Freeze for at least 4 hours or until the popsicles are completely solid.
  7. To serve, briefly run the mold under warm water to facilitate the removal of the popsicles.

Remember that since they contain alcohol, these popsicles are strictly for adults, and the alcohol may delay the freezing process. Moreover, the alcohol content should not be excessive to ensure that the popsicles solidify properly. Choose spirits that pair well with watermelon, like vodka or white rum, which are fairly neutral and do not overpower the taste of the watermelon.

Curiosity

In some cultures, especially in the southern United States, the combination of watermelon and alcohol is a summer party classic. Alcoholic popsicles are a modern take on this tradition, bringing a touch of sophistication and novelty to an already established mix.
